What's going on? (2/1) (Max)

[Midna]

Vex sat up with a gasp.

She remembered falling. Some idiot had run into her and knocked her over! Into the pool, she'd have thought. But here she was, sitting on the sidewalk of a busy road. How did she get here?

Frowning, she stood up and knocked something off of her lap. Two pins fell onto the ground. Picking them up, she saw that one was pink and had what looked like black violins on it. Looked classy. The other was black. She guessed the white mark on it looked like a school? Hoping this wasn't some prank to make her look bad, she pinned them onto her skirt. At least they looked kinda cool.

This was probably some kind of a prank. She should've known. She'd passed out at a party or something, and they'd dumped her here. She looked around for any of her squad, but couldn't see any. Jerks. How dare they?!

Her ringtone went off, some snippet from the latest pop song. Pulling it out, Vex looked at it. Then her face contorted in disgust. Eew. Who typed like that? Apparently people who did spam messages. Slipping her phone back into her pocket, she turned around and started to walk home, scowling.

She stopped as she remembered that it had been the middle of the night during the party...

Z was running around the busy street, arms flailing in the air "OH GOD I CAN'T HEAR HELP ME! WHAT IS GOING ON?? HELP!!!" He tried to dodge all the people, but even when he hit someone he just passed right through them. He paused, sliding his hand through a woman. Z looked at his hand in shock before screaming, turning around and running again.

He didn't even realize where he was going until he hit something solid, a person? After falling on the ground with a hard 'thunk', Z turned over, looking at the girl. "Oh my god I tripped over you." He think he said, although it was impossible for him to tell "I'm sorry but who are you? How? Can you hear me? Am I talking?" He paused for a second "I ran into you I am so sorry."

Hearing screaming and yelling, Vex looked around. What the hell? She couldn't quite see who it was, but now it sounded like he was behind her.

The girl turned and saw some guy coming straight for her. She yelped and tried to move out of the way, but he ended up running into her side and falling down. Not saying sorry (because clearly it wasn't her fault), Vex scowled and crossed her arms. "Hey! Watch where you're going jerk!"

She couldn't quite hear what he said, but she rolled her eyes at what she did hear. "Yes, you are talking. Quite loudly. Duh."

Was he-? He was wearing one of the pins she was! Her mouth opened in indignation at seeing it. Was he in on whatever happened to her and now he's trying to ridicule her even more? "You! Are you one of the ones responsible for this? Do you think this is funny?!"

Z looked at her, cocking his head to the side slightly. "Uh, I-" He paused as she asked him about him being involved. He sat and thought for a second. He looked down as he thought, the last thing the blond remembered was being in his dorm room, wasted… He looked up at her once again. "I-I can't hear anything you just said. And I don't mean you're quite, I mean you could be, but I can't hear a single thing. Which is also weird because I normally hear."

Z sat up a bit higher, looking down at her pins. She had one of the same ones he had! "Okay, so I'm guessing you can hear me." He said a bit louder than a normal person "So, you have this pin too…" He pointed down to the black pin with the white skull.

"Do you have any idea what's going on?" He asked, knowing that if she told him he wouldn't hear "Just uh, shake your head yes or no."

[Midna]

Vex paused, still fuming. Maybe this guy wasn't in on it after all? He seemed just as confused as she was. He couldn't hear? Gee, that sucked. Unless he was faking it. The frown not off her face just yet, she said "If you're faking this just to make me look bad, you'll pay. I do know martial arts."

He didn't seem to be faking it though, at least not that she thought. Still suspicious, she kept listening. "Yes, I can hear you. And yeah, I do. Clearly. No, I have no idea." She shook her head no, then pointed at him. "Do you know?" Maybe he could read lips or something?

The girl talked a bit fast for Z to understand. While he did understand the very last question. "I honestly don't, thinks could be so much easier…" He spoke, his australian accent coming out with certain words he spoke.

Z ran his hands through his blue and blond hair "God this would be so much easier if I could hear you or at least understand you better." He looked up, seeing something running toward them. He squinted, trying to see it better. "What the hell is that?" Z tried to see it, and then he realized what it was…."Frogs?"

[Midna]

The scowl returned to Vex's face. "Well, good luck. I'm going home." She was about to turn on her heel and walk off when she saw them. Were those... Giant frogs?! Her eyes widened, and she got into her fighting stance as they got closer. She agreed with the strange boy on one thing. These things should not exist!

"They're heading for us!" Not one to back down from a fight, she stood her ground as they got closer. "Come on, are you going to fight with me or not?!" At that phrase, her Player pin started to grow warmer. She didn't need his help, but there were a lot of frogs. Nobody else seemed to be able to notice them.

Z couldn't understand her, considering she was facing the other way, but he figured she wanted help to kill these things. He stood up, tugging on the sides of his jacket and running his hands through his soft hair. "There's not that many of them, if we attack them together we should be able to win this easily.

Z took a battle stance, left foot in front of his right and hands clenched. For some reason he knew he wouldn't need to use his fists to fight these things.

[Midna]

Vex suddenly felt warmer, but she had no time to think about it. The Noise were there. Baring her teeth, she swung her fist at it in a forward punch. Pain erupted in her hand, and she jumped back.

"OW!"

She probably would have said much ruder things to go along with the exclamations, but with her yell of pain, it seemed like a shockwave had happened, and the Noise she'd fought had gone flying back. It was now flailing on the ground, jerking as it got zapped by something. Had she done that? Was she supposed to keep yelling at it?

The anger back in her eyes, she screamed at it, "GO AWAY!" Another shockwave hit it, and it turned to static, fading into nothing. She noticed that her stinging hand was also covered by static.

Z watched the girl in awe before feeling something hit him from behind. "Damn frogs…" He gripped the pin in his pocket and a large pillar of ice prong up from beneath the noise. He smiled, doing it again. The frog fell onto the ground and almost…evaporated? Oh well, with as weird as this world was so far, this was nothing.

"One more!" He shouted out, hitting it with the ice pillar. He tried again, but his pin seemed to take a break "Can you hit it!?"

[Midna]

Adrenaline coursing through her from the fight, Vex nodded. The rest were running. This was the last one. She still had no idea what was going on. But at least they were winning. That was enough, right?

"STUPID FROGS!" She focused her last yell at the frog, knowing her throat was going to hurt so badly later. The shockwave went through the boy and smashed into the frog like a brick wall. It vanished before it could hit the ground.

"I think that's all of them..."
