Invisible Brick Walls [1/5]

[Snow]

Blayze groaned and stretched. Yesterday had been a free day, no mission. Callie had dragged him off to do whatever but really he'd spent most of the day sleeping. Phone buzzing, Blayze glared at it and checked the mission.

"Hope you enjoyed your free day players! I know I did. As for today's mission, clear a single wall blocking a path. Considering my reapers are doing other things, once you find it all you have to do is clear all noise in that area. Have fun! -M
" 

Fun. Right.

Wait, walls?!

[Midna]

Callie had already been awake, well rested from their free day. She looked up when her phone buzzed and checked it.

"Huh, walls? Apparently they block paths so I'm assuming that's streets and alleys and stuff. But there's no way someone could put a brick wall across the street without cars crashing into it... Oh well, I guess we'll have to look around and find one."

[Snow]

Blayze, growling, picked up a rock and threw it at the ground so hard that it shattered into a million and one pieces.

"I don't want to go around breaking walls!" he complained. "And then we have to kill all the Noise in the area? That's a load of bull!"

[Midna]

Callie sighed. "Maybe there won't be very much Noise in the area? It would be nice to find some new Pins too. Maybe we'll see a shop or some lying around on the way there. And we only have a few more days of this. Gotta keep moving."

She started walking. "Come on, we should get this over with."

[Snow]

"Fiiiiiine," Blayze moaned, dragging himself after her. "But I'm going to be decidedly grumpy the entire way, and you can't stop me." For good measure, he latched onto her shirt. Not only because it helped him not lose her, but because the physical texture of her shirt anchored him to the present.

He really hoped she knew that.

[Midna]

"If you must." When he grabbed her shirt though, she frowned. Huh, she hadn't expected this from him... "If you're doing that to try to make a move on me," she said dryly, "Don't bother. I only like girls." She kept walking though, and didn't try to push him away.

Then she turned a corner, and walked right into something very hard and very solid.

"OW!" She yelled, holding her head. "What the heck was that?!" There didn't seem to be anything there when the stars left her vision and she could see again. Callie slowly reached out a hand, and it met something solid, like... "A wall?"

[Snow]

"And I'm hella gay, so don't worry." He scoffed. "I'm trying not to attack you, dumbass. Ya know, the whole PTSD from the war against Iraq thing."

When she walked into a wall, he pouted. "Here already? ...Okayyy, now how do we break it. Physical force is probably a no, since nothing makes sense in this world."

[Midna]

"Oh." Her voice had gotten a bit more cheerful. Partly since they had found a wall. "Sorry about that, then."

Hearing what he said, she frowned. "The mission says we have to defeat all of the Noise to break it. But I don't see any Noise... There must be some though, since it's here. Maybe they're hiding and we have to find them somehow? They're too big to hide behind stuff easily."

[Snow]

Okay how did he not thing=k of this sooner?

"So like... Noise are... 'metaphysical' is a word, I think. Noise are sort of metaphysical? Like thoughts? Sooooo.... mind reading sorta I guess?"

Blayze let go of her shirt and instantly had to find something else to focus on here in the present. He could feel his mind trying to slip back to the past, but he shook his head firmly (making his hair bush out a little) and stamped his foot, letting the sound hold him to the present.

"I'll see if I can sense Noise. You did the mind reading, after all." Blayze pressed his player pin and concentrated, thoughts bombarded him (and he nearly chuckled when he found the cute blue-haired boy's thoughts again), but he sifted through them, pushing them out of the way, and found... a weird symbol. "I found a symbol thing. I'm gonna touch it."

And so, he touched it.

And instant pandemonium ensued.

[Midna]

"Okay, go for it." She stood back and watched, hand touching the meteor pin on her shirt as she waited for something to happened. Then she yelped as not one, not two, but five Noise appeared around them and lunged. "Shrike, look out!"

These were slightly different. There were two frogs, and she took out both with meteors, pulling her Pin off her shirt and holding it to aim better. The frogs disappeared after one hit each. Maybe she'd gotten stronger?

There were also two crabs, with large claws that protected their fronts. However, their backs were more vulnerable. "Try and go for their backs!" she called.

The fifth noise was a large black and blue vulture, flying several feet above them. Callie was more focused on the frogs until it dove and snatched the Pin out of her hand. She tried to grab for it, but it let out a mocking caw and hovered above her, still clutching the Pin. There went her attack.

"The vulture got my &%^*(^ Pin!" She snarled with fury and a tad bit of fear. "I can't attack, try to bring it down!"

She dodged one of the crabs, nearly running into the other in the process.

[Snow]

Blayze attacked one of the crabs, burning it to a crisp, but not before it nearly killed Callie. "Sorry!" he called, wincing. "It takes a little bit to get refocused!" He saw the crow above him, he saw it swoop down, and he did the natural thing.

Punch that #$*&) right in the mouth.

He snatched Callie's pin back while it hit the ground, glaring at it the entire time. "Catch, Callie!" he shouted, throwing it to her. Meanwhile, his pin had recharged, and he burned the &*!) out of the Noise vulture thing. Not quite killing it, but getting some good damage on it.

[Midna]

"It's fine!" she called back, jumping out of the way and backing away from the one remaining crab. Despite how dangerous their situation was, she had to hold back a giggle when he punched the vulture. It dropped her Pin, and she caught it when Blayze threw it. "Thanks!"

Now for that crab. It was still pursuing her, so she carefully aimed a meteor. It missed the crab by inches, landing just behind it. Meanwhile, it had gotten in close enough to snap at her arm, catching some of the skin even as she pulled it away. Callie gasped in pain and jumped back, that had hurt! She saw a little bit of static on her arm where it had touched her, but the static faded away with the pain to reveal normal skin. It still ached a little though. Growling, she aimed again, and the next meteor hit the crab straight on the rear. She'd been right, it was vulnerable. The crab fizzled out of existence, and she turned towards the vulture, ready to help Blayze if need be.

[Snow]

Blayze was way ahead of her.

He had decimated the vulture. Flames were awesome, especially when they got more powerful when he was angry. IN fact, he was just finishing when Callie had finished off the last crab. The ex-veteran was breathing heavily, a bit of static clinging to his arm. As a result, he had switched arms. The static faded and so did the vulture.

His words to Callie? "When this is over, I'm finding the blue-haired cutie from yesterday and hitting on him. This had better be worth it."

[Midna]

Callie was expecting him to say something else, anything else. Instead he said that. She started to giggle, then laugh, finally laughing so hard she had to sit down on the sidewalk. When she'd finally calmed down somewhat, she grinned. "We're in a life or death situation and you think about cute guys... If you do, you'd better introduce me. I like you, and I'm definitely staying in touch if we both survive this." She shrugged, "If you want me to keep in contact of course. I wouldn't blame you if you wanted a purely normal life after this."

[Snow]

"Yeah, because being an ex-veteran with PTSD and in this situation in completely normal." He rolled his eyes. "I'm gonna want at least one person who knows what happened here, ya know. And I don't think I'm going to return to being alive anyway. Maybe a Reaper... I'd like to keep my Pins." Speaking of Pins... "Oh! Did those Noise drop any Pins?"
